TURKPA Secretary General meets with AK Parti Deputy Chairman Mr. Kürşad Zorlu

On 26 October 2026, the Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (TURKPA) Ambassador Ramil Hasan met with Mr. Kürşad Zorlu, Deputy Chairman of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Parti), responsible for Relations with Turkic States and a Member of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, during his official visit to the Republic of Türkiye.

During the meeting, the importance of further developing the fraternal relations and strategic alliance between Azerbaijan and Türkiye was underscored. It was noted that the unity and solidarity of the Turkic World constitute an important priority of national policy, with Azerbaijan and Türkiye serving as role models and leading advocates for other brotherly Turkic States. The importance of TURKPA as a key platform for strengthening interparliamentary cooperation, bringing legislation closer into alignment, safeguarding the national interests of its Member States, and promoting joint efforts to counter forces seeking to undermine the unity of the Turkic World was also emphasized.

Mr. Kürşad Zorlu highlighted the importance of relations between Azerbaijan and Türkiye for the Turkic World as a whole. Expressing appreciation for TURKPA’s activities in this regard, he stated that the Republic of Türkiye would continue to support the Assembly’s work.

Ambassador Ramil Hasan provided detailed information on the Fifteenth Meeting of the Council of the Assembly and the Fifteenth Plenary Session of TURKPA, held in Bishkek. Referring to TURKPA’s role as an important interparliamentary organization bringing together the Speakers of Parliaments and members of parliament of the brotherly Turkic States, the Secretary General underscored the importance of further strengthening the fraternal relations and strategic alliance between Azerbaijan and Türkiye.

Highlighting the role of Azerbaijan and Türkiye as two powerful Turkic States on the international stage, Ambassador Ramil Hasan stressed the importance of aligning their common national interests and enhancing solidarity to further consolidate the unity of the Turkic World. He reaffirmed TURKPA’s readiness to continue contributing to the further development of cooperation in this regard.
