The Chairpersonship of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (TURKPA) is handed over annually from one member state to another during the meeting of the Council of Assembly, based on rotation in English alphabetical order. Current Chairmanship of TURKPA was handed over to the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan during the Fourteenth Meeting of the Council of Assembly held on 12 June 2025 in Astana.
The Secretariat of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (TURKPA) is a permanent body operating on the basis of the 'Agreement on the Establishment of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States' signed in Istanbul in 2009. The main purpose of the Secretariat is to provide organizational, technical, and analytical support to TURKPA's activities, strengthen cooperation among member parliaments, and contribute to integration processes in the Turkic world.
Plenary sessions have been held annually since 2009. Administrative and financial issues of the Assembly are decided, and topics of parliamentary diplomacy are addressed.
