TURKPA took part at Global Parliamentary Conference co-organized by IPU and Turkish Parliament

On 20-21 June 2022, Secretary General Mehmet Süreyya Er attended the Global Parliamentary Conference entitled “Parliaments and the Global Compacts on Migration and Refugees: How to bring about stronger international cooperation and national implementation” organized jointly by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye in Istanbul. The Conference brought together heads of parliament, parliamentarians and representatives of international organizations. The event was consisted of panel sessions that focused on the progress made in the implementation of the global compacts and challenges that stand in the way of stronger collective, bilateral and national action. The participants discussed permanent solutions to involuntary migration, addressing irregular migration, responsibility and fair burden sharing in this field, adjusting the lives of migrants and refugees, experience of Türkiye as the country hosting the highest number immigrants in the world.
