On 26 November 2025, Secretary of the TURKPA Commission on Legal Affairs and International Relations, Mr. Kadir Yaman, participated virtually in the 8th Meeting of the Parliamentary Assemblies on Countering Terrorism Coordination Mechanism.
The high-level meeting was organized by the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT) Programme Office on Parliamentary Engagement in Preventing and Countering Terrorism. It was held with the support of the Shura Council of the State of Qatar and in collaboration with the House of Representatives of the Republic of Cyprus and the current Chair of the Mechanism, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM).
In his address to the international delegates, the Secretary of Commission underscored the importance of inter-parliamentary cooperation in the global fight against terrorism. He provided information on the "Meetings of the Chairpersons of the National Defense and Security Committees of the Parliaments of the Turkic States," highlighting TURKPA's pivotal role in fostering dialogue and coordinating legislative efforts to enhance security across the Turkic region.
On the occasion of the meeting, the participating delegates re-elected the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM) to preside over the Coordination Mechanism for a second term.
The event served as a significant platform for sharing best practices and strengthening collaborative networks among parliamentary assemblies in the critical field of counter-terrorism.
