TURKPA Secretary General and Speaker of TRNC Assembly held bilateral meeting

On 11 June 2025, Secretary General Mehmet Süreyya Er met with the Speaker of the Assembly of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Ziya Öztürkler on the sidelines of the 14th Plenary Session of TURKPA in Astana. Secretary General expressed gratitude for participation of the delegation of the Assembly of the TRNC at the 14th Plenary Session of TURKPA. He noted that the obtaining of TRNC observer status in the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) and TURKPA added even more strength to the strength of the Turkic World. Secretary General also highlighted the successful organization of the First Summit of Turkic Women Parliamentarians under the TURKPA aegis on 28-31 May 2025 in Lefkoşa. Head of Parliament Ziya Öztürkler expressed pleasure to take part and represent the TRNC at the 14th Plenary Session of TURKPA. Mentioning the TRNC as an integral part of the Turkic World, he emphasized the significance of unity and solidarity of the Turkic World and carrying out systematic activity in this regard. Speaker Ziya Öztürkler wished success for the 14th Plenary Session of TURKPA. The TRNC obtained an observer status in the OTS during the 9th Summit held in Samarkand in 2022. Later, in 2023, the Assembly of the TRNC obtained an observer status in TURKPA during the 12th Plenary Session held in Ankara.
