On 26 January 2026, Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (TURKPA) Ambassador Ramil Hasan delivered a speech at the 16th Plenary Session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA). In his address, Ambassador Hasan provided a comprehensive overview of TURKPA’s activities and ongoing projects, highlighting the steps taken to enhance mutual cooperation with the Asian Parliamentary Assembly. He emphasized that TURKPA has held observer status in the APA since 2017. Secretary General underscored the critical role of parliamentary diplomacy in harmony with international diplomacy in promoting peace and stability, resolving conflicts, fostering cooperation based on shared interests both regionally in Asia and globally, and ensuring security. He noted that the joint efforts of parliamentarians yield significant benefits for the international community. Within this context, Ambassador Hasan commended TURKPA’s activities, stressing that parliamentarians from member states —Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Türkiye — collaborate on the principles of mutual understanding and respect. He also highlighted the commitment of Turkic States to a policy of tolerance toward all religions and nations and emphasized the importance of TURKPA’s initiatives in this regard. In conclusion, the Secretary General provided information on TURKPA’s forthcoming projects and reaffirmed his determination to advance the cooperation between TURKPA and the Asian Parliamentary Assembly to a new stage of development.
