TURKPA attended the events held in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in commemoration of Peace and Freedom Day

On 19-21 July 2025, the TURKPA delegation led by the Secretary General Mehmet Süreyya Er took part in events, commemorating the 51st anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation, held in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). On 20 July, the delegation took part in the foundation-laying ceremony of the New Lefkoşa State Hospital, as well as the opening ceremony of the overpass and connecting roads project of the Northern Lefkoşa Ring Road, held on the premises of the Presidential Complex of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). At the opening ceremony, President of the Republic of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Ersin Tatar delivered welcoming speeches. In his remarks at the opening ceremony, the President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan emphasized that Türkiye will always stand by the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, noting that the Turkish Government is doing everything necessary to support the development of a strong, self-confident, and prosperous TRNC across all sectors. President Ersin Tatar, in turn, expressed his gratitude to everyone who contributed to the completion of the project, especially to President Erdoğan for his support, and stated that the Turkish Cypriots are not alone, as the Republic of Türkiye has always stood by their side on this journey. The ceremony concluded with a moment of silence, the national anthem, and the raising of the flags of Türkiye and the TRNC. Among the distinguished attendees were high-ranking officials from Türkiye, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), and Azerbaijan, notably including Hakan Fidan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye; Yaşar Güler, Minister of National Defense of the Republic of Türkiye; Bekir Bozdağ, Deputy Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye; as well as Members of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan Musa Guliyev, Javanshir Feyziyev, Anar Mammadov and Azar Allahverenov. The delegation also attended receptions hosted by President Ersin Tatar and Speaker of the Republican Assembly Dr. Ziya Öztürkler on the occasion of the 51st anniversary of the Peace and Freedom Day. During the visit, the TURKPA delegation was received by President of the TRNC Ersin Tatar, Speaker of the Republican Assembly Ziya Öztürkler, Prime Minister Ünal Üstel and Minister of Foreign Affairs Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu. Secretary General Mehmet Süreyya Er was accompanied by the staff members of the TURKPA Secretariat Furkan Bilal Akyüz and Emin Salmanov.
