TURKPA attended the Ceremony of the CICA Headquarters foundation

On 26 June 2024, Deputy Secretary General Talgat Aduov took part in the foundation ceremony of the Headquarters of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) held in Astana, Kazakhstan. The event was attended by officials from Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Tajikistan, heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Astana, as well as representatives of international organizations. CICA Secretary General Kairat Sarybay, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Alibek Bakayev, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Ismatullo Nasredin and Head of the Department of Regional Security of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Azer Musayev delivered a speech at the event. Secretary General Kairat Sarybay emphasized the importance of the new headquarters as a symbol of CICA's ongoing commitment to cooperation and dialogue between Asian countries. Mentioning plans to introduce advanced green technologies into the building and create a park to promote sustainable development, Mr. Sarybay invited member states to contribute to the interior design of the new headquarters to reflect the cultural diversity of the CICA region. Participants laid a time capsule within the foundation stone of the building, containing a message for future colleagues of the CICA Secretariat. The capsule is intended to be opened in 2049, marking the 50th anniversary of CICA's founding document. On the eve of the Senior Officials Committee meeting in Astana on 27 June 2024 the officials from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Tajikistan held the first-ever consultations. In the course of the consultations, issues such as CICA activities, and preparing for a handover of the Chairmanship from Kazakhstan to Azerbaijan at the CICA Ministerial Council meeting on 11 November 2024 in Baku were discussed. The event participants expressed their readiness to continue organizing meetings at various levels to further enhance the organization’s activities.
