TURKPA attended the 19th PUIC Conference

On 14–15 May 2025, TURKPA delegation led by Deputy Secretary General Saky Sadykov, participated in the 19th Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC) held under the theme “Good Governance and Strong Institutions” and hosted by the Parliament of the Republic of Indonesia in Jakarta. Marking the 25th anniversary of the PUIC’s establishment in 1999, the Conference brought together parliamentary delegations from 38 OIC member states to discuss a broad range of political, economic, and social issues affecting the Islamic world. Deputy Secretary General Saky Sadykov delivered a speech at the Conference. In his remarks, he expressed gratitude to the host country for the invitation and the excellent organization of the event. He emphasized the urgent need to strengthen governance and institutions in order to address today’s complex global challenges — from climate crises to geopolitical tensions. He also noted the interest, as an observer, in exchanging best practices in the areas of legislative innovation, digital governance, and youth empowerment. The Conference agenda included the report of the PUIC Secretary General, statements by Speakers, Vice-Speakers, Heads of Delegations, and Observers, as well as various organizational matters related to the PUIC General and Executive Committees. The session also featured the election of new members to the General Committee for the upcoming term, along with discussions on the committee’s work programme and the Secretary General’s report, participation in regional and international forums, and official statements issued by the General Secretariat and member parliaments. The Conference concluded with the adoption of the Jakarta Declaration by the Speakers, Heads, and Members of Delegations of the Parliaments of the OIC Member States. Deputy Secretary General Saky Sadykov was accompanied by the staff member of the TURKPA Secretariat Alasgar Aghayev. The TURKPA delegation attended the Conference in the capacity of observer.
