Speaker of the TRNC Assembly received TURKPA Secretary General

On 20 November 2025, the Speaker of the Assembly of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), Mr. Ziya Öztürkler, received a delegation led by the Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (TURKPA), Ambassador Ramil Hasan. During the meeting, the significance of the activities carried out by the Assembly of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) within the framework of its observer status at the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (TURKPA) over recent years was highlighted. Particular emphasis was also placed on the successful outcome of the 1st Summit of Turkic Women Parliamentarians, held in the TRNC from 28 to 31 May 2025 under the auspices of the TURKPA Women Parliamentarians’ Group. In addition, the importance and necessity of hosting similar international events and projects in the TRNC in the future were underscored. TURKPA Secretary General Mr. Ramil Hasan further stressed that the active participation of the TRNC Assembly and its initiatives will continue to receive the full support of TURKPA in its upcoming activities, such as plenary sessions, committee meetings, and informal gatherings of parliamentary speakers. During the meeting, Secretary General Ambassador Ramil Hasan briefed the Speaker on the key projects recently implemented by TURKPA and highlighted the high-level support extended to the TRNC by the Heads of State at the 12th Summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), held in Gabala under their leadership. He also highlighted the fruitful and dynamic cooperation established within the framework of the TRNC’s observer status in TURKPA, and underscored TURKPA’s readiness, within the scope of its authority, to provide all possible support to the TRNC in its future activities. The Secretary General further noted that, under the leadership of the TURKPA Chairman-in-Office, H.E. Yerlan Koshanov, Speaker of the Majlis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Assembly has planned significant, strategic, and large-scale initiatives for 2026. He expressed hope that the TRNC delegation would actively participate in many of these initiatives. In turn, the Speaker of the Assembly, H.E. Ziya Öztürkler, expressed his sincere gratitude to the Secretary General for the comprehensive support provided by TURKPA and for paying a visit to the TRNC Assembly. He emphasized that the TRNC constitutes an integral part of the Turkish nation and expressed satisfaction with TURKPA’s activities aimed at strengthening ties within the Turkic World, as well as addressing the challenges faced by the TRNC within the framework of international legal norms. Mr. Öztürkler also expressed confidence that the support extended to the TRNC will continue in a consistent and sustained manner. In the course of the meeting, future avenues for cooperation and opportunities for joint initiatives were also discussed. The meeting was also attended by Deputy Secretaries General Talgat Aduov and Muhammet Alper Hayali, as well as staff member Alasgar Aghayev.
