Secretary General of TURKPA receives President of the OSCE PA

On 3 September 2026, Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (TURKPA), H.E. Ambassador Ramil Hasan, held a meeting at the TURKPA International Secretariat with a delegation of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly (OSCE PA) headed by its President H.E. Mr. Pere Joan Pons Sampietro, who is on an official visit to Azerbaijan.

The meeting addressed issues of mutual interest, with particular emphasis placed on the effective and active cooperation between TURKPA and the OSCE PA since 2010. The parties also exchanged views extensively on the steps taken towards the observer status of TURKPA in the OSCE PA, the voting process on this matter during the OSCE PA Annual Session held in The Hague in July, as well as the next stages of the process.

The meeting also covered the parliamentary elections held in Kazakhstan, TURKPA’s large-scale and productive engagement in recent times, as well as effective cooperation between the OSCE PA and TURKPA in promoting dialogue, peace, stability and mutual understanding. Both the President of the OSCE PA and the Secretary General of TURKPA underscored that more active participation of their respective delegations in future activities would serve common interests.

For his part, President of the OSCE PA Mr. Pons expressed his appreciation for the warm reception and stated that they were pleased with their cooperation with TURKPA. He further affirmed their readiness to continue providing their utmost support to TURKPA in the processes aimed at advancing parliamentary diplomacy based on democratic values and dedicated to fostering mutual dialogue. In turn, the Secretary General emphasized the importance of joint engagement and participation in mutual activities and projects, noting that these constituted one of the key factors serving common interests.

The meeting was also attended by OSCE PA Vice President and Special Representative for the South Caucasus Mr. Luís Graça, Deputy Secretaries General of the TURKPA International Secretariat Mr. Talgat Aduov, Mr. Muhammet Alper Hayali and Secretary of TURKPA Commission Ms. Aynura Abutalibova.
