On 30 May 2025, within the framework of the First Summit of Turkic Women Parliamentarians, the delegation comprised of the parliamentarians and academicians from the TURKPA member states, TURKPA Secretary General, as well as the participants from Bulgaria, Kosovo, Moldova, and Uzbekistan, was received by the top leadership of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). The delegation was received by the President of the TRNC Ersin Tatar, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the TRNC Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu and Speaker of the Assembly of the TRNC Ziya Öztürkler. During the meeting, President Ersin Tatar welcomed the delegation, emphasizing the importance of strengthening ties with the Turkic World through parliamentary and cultural diplomacy. Highlighting strategic goals in tourism, education and digital transformation, he reiterated the Government’s commitment to inclusive policies and deeper integration with the Turkic World. In the meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the TRNC, Minister Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu reiterated the TRNC’s commitment to the strengthening relations with the Turkic states and welcomed TURKPA’s growing engagement with the TRNC. He briefed the delegation on the Cyprus issue. The Minister expressed his satisfaction in hosting such a distinguished delegation, wishing them a productive visit. During the meeting with the Speaker of the Assembly of the TRNC, Head of Parliament Ziya Öztürkler welcomed the delegation and expressed gratitude for their participation. He mentioned the Summit as a historic and transformative event for women parliamentarians, emphasizing the value of collaboration in education, culture and entrepreneurship. He noted that the ideas shared would inspire future initiatives and stressed that women’s empowerment across all sectors is essential for the progress of Turkic states, expressing pride for the TRNC’s role as the host of the event.
