Heads of Health Committees of TURKPA Member Parliaments met with First Deputy Speaker of Azerbaijani Parliament

On 22 January 2025, participants of the Second Meeting of the Heads of Committees on Health Issues of the TURKPA Member Parliaments met with the First Deputy Speaker of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ali Ahmadov. Expressing his satisfaction with welcoming the representatives of fraternal countries at the Milli Majlis, the First Deputy Speaker extended greetings on behalf of the leadership of the Milli Majlis and Head of Parliament Sahiba Gafarova. First Deputy Speaker of the Milli Majlis Ali Ahmadov highlighted the importance of the discussions held during the Second Meeting of the Heads of Committees on Health Issues of the TURKPA Member Parliaments under the theme “Climate Change and Health: Legislative Responses to the Health Impacts of Climate Change.” He touched on Azerbaijan’s healthcare advancements under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, citing the country’s initiatives on elimination of impacts of COVID-19 pandemic and proactive role in addressing global climate challenges. Referring to the successful outcomes of COP29 held in Azerbaijan last year, he emphasized the country’s commitment to combating the health impacts of climate change. First Deputy Speaker underlined the importance of strengthening cooperation within the TURKPA’s framework as a key platform for parliamentary collaboration on pressing issues such as healthcare and climate change. The participants of the event expressed their gratitude to the leadership of the Azerbaijani parliament for the warm hospitality extended to them. They touched on the importance of collaboration within TURKPA, highlighting its significant contributions to the development of healthcare in the Turkic world, particularly in addressing the health impacts of climate change.
