On 20 November 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), H.E. Mr. Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu, received a delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (TURKPA) led by Secretary General Ambassador Ramil Hasan. During the meeting, Secretary General Hasan highlighted that, within the framework of his visit, he had held productive discussions with the Foreign Ministers and Speakers of Parliament of TURKPA member states, exchanging views on the provision of continued support to the TRNC. He further emphasized that the TRNC’s active participation in the Assembly’s key events would be fully supported. Mr. Hasan also briefed the Minister on recent major initiatives undertaken by TURKPA and noted the high-level support extended to the TRNC during the 12th Summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) held in Gabala under the leadership of the Heads of State. He reaffirmed TURKPA’s readiness to provide comprehensive support to the TRNC’s future activities within the Assembly’s mandate. The Secretary General further underscored that, under the leadership of the TURKPA Chairman-in-Office, H.E. Mr. Yerlan Koshanov, Chairman of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Assembly has prepared key and strategically significant initiatives for 2026, in which the active participation of TRNC representatives plays a pivotal role. In turn, Minister Ertuğruloğlu highlighted the goal of fostering and strengthening relations between the TRNC and the broader Turkic world across all areas, emphasizing the importance of mutual cooperation. He also expressed gratitude to the TURKPA delegation for their support in enhancing the TRNC’s visibility within this framework. The meeting provided an opportunity for an extensive exchange of views on future avenues of cooperation and potential joint initiatives. The meeting was also attended by Deputy Secretaries General Talgat Aduov and Muhammet Alper Hayali, as well as staff member Alasgar Aghayev.
