Eleventh Meeting of the Commission on Environment, Natural Resources and Health Protection held in Ankara

On 21 May 2026, the Eleventh Meeting of the Commission on Environment, Natural Resources and Health Protection of TURKPA was held in Ankara, hosted by the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye.

The meeting, dedicated to the theme “Environmental Pollution in TURKPA Member States: Challenges and Cooperation Prospects,” was chaired by Mr. Ahliman Amiraslanov, Chairman of the Commission on Environment, Natural Resources and Health Protection and member of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

During the opening ceremony, speeches were delivered by Mr. Ahliman Amiraslanov, Chairman of the Commission, member of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Kadim Durmaz, member of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, Mr. Duisenbay Turganov, member of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan (online), Mr. Ali Bektayev, member of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan (online), Mr. Yrysbek Atazhanov, member of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic, and Mr. Muhammet Alper Hayali, Deputy Secretary General of TURKPA.

Following the opening remarks, the Commission members discussed the items on the agenda. The Report and Recommendations on the main topic of the meeting, which will be submitted to the 15th Plenary Session of TURKPA to be held in the Kyrgyz Republic in October 2026, were reviewed and approved.

Additionally, the Commission discussed and adopted the draft Model Law “On Resorts, Coastal Wellness and Natural Treatment Retreats” was presented by Mr. Adil Valiyev, Head of the Social Legislation Department of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Representatives of guest international organizations participating in the Commission meeting, Dr. Yusif Huseynov, Senior Officer of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), and Mr. Asif Mammadzada from the Clean Energy Centre for the ECO Region (CECECO), also delivered statements during the meeting.

At the conclusion of the meeting, it was decided that the 12th Meeting of the Commission will be held in Azerbaijan next year.
