The meetings of Experts Group on elaboration of the draft Model Law "On Environmental Education and Enlightenment of the Population" within the framework of the TURKPA Commission on Environment, Natural Resources and Health Protection have been concluded. The Expert Group consisting of representatives of member states gathered together during the online meetings were held on January 31 and 21 February 2025, respectively. The draft Model Law "On Environmental Education and Enlightenment of the Population" was elaborated in accordance with the TURKPA Strategic Roadmap for 2023-2028. The document is based on a fundamental legal framework of the national legislative systems of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Türkiye. Thus, the experience related to the laws in force of member states, existing similar laws in different countries, as well as other regulatory and legal documents were studied during the elaboration of this document. The elaboration of the draft Model Law as an important legal instrument for the process of gaining and teaching experience that focused on formation of behavioral norms and special knowledge on environmental protection and efficient use of natural resources aims at elimination of existing legal gaps in the relevant sphere. During the meetings of Experts Group held with the participation of representatives of member states and TURKPA Secretariat, parties exchanged views, gave recommendations and proposals on the draft Model law. The final draft of the Model Law elaborated by the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan will be submitted to the 10th meeting of the Commission. The meetings was moderated by the Secretary of the Commission Aynura Abutalibova.
