Baku hosted Third Meeting of Young Parliamentarians Group of TURKPA

On 5 June 2024, within the framework of the Thirteenth Plenary Session of TURKPA, the Third Meeting of Young Parliamentarians Group titled “Physical And Mental Issues of Young People of TURKPA Member States” was held in Baku. The event brought together parliamentarians from TURKPA member states and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) as an observer. The meeting was chaired by the Head of Group, Member of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye Emre Çalışkan. In his opening remarks, the Head of Group expressed his gratitude to the Milli Majlis for the hosting of the meeting and his belief that the meeting would be a great opportunity to evaluate health policies and actions for youth, who are the guarantee of our future. Members of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan Anar Mammadov and Aliabbas Salahzade, Member of the Jogorku Kenesh of Kyrgyz Republic Kubanychbek Samakov, Member of the Assembly of the TRNC Fide Kürşat also delivered speeches at the meeting. Addressing the increasing health issues among youth, such as obesity, drug addiction, malnutrition, sedentary lifestyles and infectious diseases, Mr. Çalışkan stressed the need for further cooperation on measures to protect health and improve opportunities for young people of TURKPA member states. In this regard, views were exchanged on policies and programmes implemented to understand the health matters of young people and to support and promote healthy lifestyles. He expressed his confidence that they would continue to work together to ensure that the youth follow healthier lives. The Group adopted its relevant Report and Recommendations and determined the theme of its Fourth Meeting to be held in the Republic of Kazakhstan within the framework of the Fourteenth Plenary Session of TURKPA.
