Twelfth Meeting of the TURKPA Commission on Economic Cooperation
On 25 February 2025, the Twelfth meeting of the Commission on Economic Cooperation organized by the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye took place in online format under the theme “Energy security as a factor of sustainable development of economy”.
The meeting was chaired by Anas Bakkozhaev, Chairman of the Commission, member of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan. At the opening ceremony Chairman of the Commission Anas Bakkozhaev and other members of the Commission – member of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan Aghalar Valiyev, member of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic Dastanbek Dzhumabekov, members of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye Mahmut Rıdvan Nazırlı and Harun Özgür Yıldızlı delivered speeches. Following the speeches, the members of the Commission discussed the agenda items and exchanged views on the main theme of the meeting. Emphasizing the importance of enhancing cooperation in the field of energy, sharing experiences and building a resilient energy infrastructure in the TURKPA region, the participants noted the role that the member parliaments could play in creating sustainable energy systems that are resilient to both external and internal threats to the member countries in order to lay a strong foundation for energy security in the Turkic World.
The Commission conducted discussion and approved the report and recommendation on the main item, as well as the draft Model law “On clean energy in economic activity”, elaborated within the framework of the Commission, to be submitted to the Fourteenth Plenary Session of TURKPA to be held in Astana, Kazakhstan on June 11-12, 2025.
The Commission decided to hold its next meeting in Azerbaijan in 2026 on the main item “Realities and prospects of conducting joint economic activities of TURKPA member states” and to develop the draft Model Law “On Joint Venture” as set out in the Strategic Roadmap for 2023-2028 within the framework of the Commission’s work plan for 2026.
