Today marks the 17th anniversary of the establishment of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (TURKPA).
The foundation of the Assembly’s activities was laid in 2008 through the signing of the historic agreement at the Dolmabahçe Palace — a symbol of our enduring friendship and brotherhood. Since that defining moment, TURKPA has continuously evolved as a key platform for parliamentary dialogue and cooperation, guided by the esteemed Speakers of the member parliaments and strengthened by the valuable contributions of our honourable parliamentarians.
Under the leadership of our Heads of State and in line with the historic decisions adopted by the Organization of Turkic States, the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States has been faithfully fulfilling the mission inherited from our ancestors. Recognizing the invaluable contributions of our brotherly member countries — Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Türkiye — and warmly anticipating the participation of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan in the near future, TURKPA has been taking important steps in advancing parliamentary diplomacy, strategic cooperation, and interaction among legislative bodies, including the harmonization of laws and the adoption of common legislative frameworks.
These efforts, conducted in full accordance with our shared strategic vision, mutual cooperation, and national interests, are being confidently pursued with the aim of strengthening the collective voice of our countries within the international arena and will continue to move forward successfully into the future.
On this significant occasion, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the Speakers of the Parliaments of the member states, parliamentarians, and all those who have contributed to the activities of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States. I am deeply confident that in the years to come, our unity will grow even stronger and TURKPA will continue to serve as an expanding bridge of inter-parliamentary cooperation and enduring friendship among our nations.
Ambassador Ramil Hasan
