On 16 November 2024, Deputy Secretary General of TURKPA Saky Sadykov took part in the 41st Meeting of the TURKSOY Permanent Council hosted by the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan in Ashgabat.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Culture of Turkmenistan, TURKSOY Term Coordinator Atageldi Shamuradov, Minister of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan Ozodbek Nazarbekov, Deputy Minister of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy of the Kyrgyz Republic Gulbara Abdikalikova, Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Türkiye Serdar Çam, Chairperson of the Committee of Culture of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kumys Seitova, TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev and other officials.
In the course of the event, the participants exchanged ideas on the projects that will promote cultural cooperation among the Turkic states. The agenda included planning events to mark the proclamation of Aktau as the "Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2025", issues related to promoting the common cultural heritage of the Turkic world, and sustainable cooperation processes.
In his speech, Secretary General of TURKSOY Sultan Raev stated that TURKSOY successfully carried out its activities thanks to the support of the Turkic world. He mentioned the importance of the joint efforts of the Turkic states touching the global threats that the common culture faced. Also noting the common culture as an important resource that strengthens solidarity and cooperation among the Turkic peoples, Secretary General of TURKSOY expressed that TURKSOY would continue to diversify its activities and achieve its goals thanks to joint efforts.
The Permanent Council of TURKSOY declared 2026 as the “Year of Ziya Gökalp” on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the famous thinker and writer Ziya Gökalp, on the proposal of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Türkiye.
On the same day, the closing ceremony of the "Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2024" (the city of Anau of Turkmenistan was the "Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2024") was held in the building of "Türkmen Ak Öýi" (Turkmen White House) in the Ak Buğday Town of the Ahal Province of Turkmenistan.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Secretary General Saky Sadykov touched upon the ancient history of the city of Anau and noted the importance of holding events glorifying the historical heritage of the Turkic peoples. Expressing satisfaction with the successful development of cultural and humanitarian ties between the Turkic countries and the promotion of Turkic culture at the international level, Saky Sadykov expressed confidence for the further dynamic development of the cultural cooperation in the Turkic world.
The program included concerts, performances by dance groups of Turkic peoples, exhibitions of painting, sculpture and photography, as well as special meetings with participation of directors of museums of TURKSOY member states.
During the ceremony, the symbol of the "Cultural Capital of the Turkic World" and the crane bird, the symbol of the "Korkut-Ata" Turkic World Film Festival, which will be held in Aktau, the "Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2025", were presented to the delegation representing the city of Aktau.
