Secretary General attended book presentation in Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation

On 9 December 2024, Secretary General Mehmet Süreyya Er attended the presentation of the book "Dashgyn" (“Flood”) authored by prominent Kyrgyz writer and Secretary General of the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY) Sultan Raev. The presentation ceremony was held in the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation in Baku.
The event brought together government officials, members of parliament, representatives of diplomatic corps and academic circles, cultural and public figures.
President of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation Aktoty Raimkulova inaugurated the event, observing that the book "Dashgyn" represents the 17th publication presented by the Foundation. She emphasized efforts of the Foundation to preserve Turkic heritage through initiatives focusing on both tangible and intangible culture. In this regard, the Foundation has established three book series: “Great Figures of the Turkic World”, “Literary Treasures of the Turkic World”, and “Scientific Gems of the Turkic World”.
During the event, speeches were also delivered by the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan Adil Karimli, President of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences Isa Habibbayli, Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Republic of Azerbaijan Maksat Mamytkanov, People's Writer of Azerbaijan Chingiz Abdullayev, Director of the Atatürk Center in Azerbaijan Nizami Jafarov and member of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan Javanshir Feyziyev, who reflected on Sultan Raev’s novel "Dashgyn", which reimagines Noah’s flood in a modern context, symbolizing society’s immersion in the internet and exploring challenges of artificial intelligence.
At the conclusion of the event, Sultan Raev took the floor to share some insights on the principal concept of the book and its contemporary relevance. He also expressed profound gratitude to all who contributed to the bringing the publication to life. Following his remarks, Honored Artist Husniyya Murvatova, a well-known actress from the Baku Municipality Theater, captivated the audience by reading an excerpt from the novel.
