President of TRNC received TURKPA delegation

On 14 November 2024, President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Ersin Tatar received the TURKPA delegation led by Secretary General Mehmet Süreyya Er who was on visit to take part in the celebrations for the 41st anniversary of establishment of the TRNC. Secretary General extended his sincere congratulations on the 41st anniversary of establishment of the TRNC and expressed pleasure of being in the TRNC on this significant day. He noted that it was felt in these lands how important the understanding of “unity in language, ideas and action” was. Touching on the Turkic cooperation, Secretary General noted that the joining of the TRNC to the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) and TURKPA as an observer gave more strength to this cooperation. He underlined that the participation of the TRNC parliament in TURKPA activities at the highest level contributed to the cooperation process. President Ersin Tatar expressed pleasure of the visit of the TURKPA delegation. He mentioned the obtaining of an observer status of the TRNC in the OTS in Samarkand in 2022 as a milestone and noted the importance of the representation of the TRNC in Turkic cooperation organizations in terms of the visibility of the country. He stated that TURKPA was an important organization and participation of the TRNC in TURKPA was of great significance. Head of State expressed belief for contribution of the Turkic unity to all Turkic states and stressed the significance and necessity of enhancing cooperation and contacts. President Ersin Tatar mentioned the alphabet unity and evaluated this step as a development that would foster linguistic unity. Head of State highlighted the Turkic unity as an important value, particularly in the era when polarization processes take place. During the visit to the TRNC, Secretary General Mehmet Süreyya Er was accompanied by the staff members of the TURKPA Secretariat Azar Mammadov and Alasgar Aghayev.
