On 25 April 2024, Chairperson of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan Sahiba Gafarova received the participants of the Meeting of Chairs of Committees on Foreign Affairs of Parliaments of Turkic States.

Welcoming the guests, Head of Parliament expressed confidence that the meeting being held at the initiative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan will be successful, providing an opportunity for fruitful discussions.

During the meeting, Chairperson of Milli Majlis emphasized the importance of Organization of Turkic States and TURKPA as multilateral cooperation mechanisms of Turkic states. She noted that ongoing processes and challenges in the region and at the global level necessitates the strengthening of joint work of the committees on foreign affairs of the parliaments of brotherly Turkic states.

In the course of the meeting, exchange of views was conducted on Turkic cooperation and processes taking place in the region.

Chairman of the Committee on Foreign and Interparliamentary Relations of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan Samad Seyidov, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defense and Security of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Aidos Sarym, Deputy Chairperson of the Committee on International Affairs, Defense, Security and Migration of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic Leila Lurova, Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye Fuat Oktay, Chairperson of the Committee on International Affairs and Interparliamentary Relations of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Dilorom Favzieva, Chairperson of the Committee on Law, Political Affairs and Foreign Relations of the Assembly of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Yasemin Öztürk, Secretary General of TURKPA Mehmet Süreyya Er and other officials took part in the meeting.
