TURKPA Secretary General participates in the International Conference

On 21 May 2026, TURKPA Secretary General Ambassador Ramil Hasan participated in the International Conference entitled “Legislative Regulation of the Use of Artificial Intelligence and New Technologies for Counter-Terrorism and the Prevention of Radicalism and Extremism,” organized by the United Nations (UN) Office of Counter-Terrorism and the Interparliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States (IPA CIS) in Saint Petersburg, Russian Federation, where he delivered a speech.
In his remarks, Ambassador Hasan emphasized that the rapid development of artificial intelligence and modern technologies has transformed the nature of security threats, creating new challenges in combating terrorism, radicalism, and extremism in the digital sphere. He underlined the importance of adapting legal frameworks to technological changes, strengthening international and parliamentary cooperation, and coordinating efforts among states and international organizations. Highlighting TURKPA’s role in promoting parliamentary diplomacy and legislative cooperation. He reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to regional and global peace, security, and joint action against modern security threats.
Stressing the importance of international cooperation in this regard, the Secretary General noted that achieving effective results in countering terrorism is only possible through joint efforts, the modernization of legislative frameworks, and the responsible use of artificial intelligence for the benefit of peace and security. Ambassador Hasan also reaffirmed the importance of adhering to the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter. He called on international organizations to strengthen solidarity, promote peace, security, and humanitarian values, and enhance cooperation in countering terrorism.
The Conference was moderated by the Member of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Political Issues and International Cooperation and First Deputy Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs Mr. Vladimir Dzhabarov.
The event brought together representatives and heads of various international organizations, including the UN and the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (PUIC), as well as experts, Members of Parliament from the CIS Member States, representatives of the diplomatic corps and media, and other officials of the Russian Federation.
The Secretary General was accompanied by the Chief of Protocol Mr. Yadigar Mammadov.
