TURKPA Secretary General meets with MHP Chairman Mr. Devlet Bahçeli

On 26 October 2026, within the framework of the official visit to the Republic of Türkiye, Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (TURKPA) Ambassador Ramil Hasan met with Chairman of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) of Türkiye and a partner in the ruling People’s Alliance Mr. Devlet Bahçeli.

During the meeting, the parties held an extensive exchange of views on the development of multilateral relations among the brotherly Turkic States, the enduring friendship and fraternal ties between Azerbaijan and Türkiye, the important and historic steps taken to date in this regard, and prospects for future cooperation.

It was emphasized that Azerbaijan and Türkiye, as states pursuing independent and strong policies, play a leading role in deepening cooperation among the Turkic States and strengthening unity across the Turkic World, serving as examples and sources of inspiration for other brotherly States. The participants noted that Türkiye provides comprehensive support for the strong state-building policy pursued by the Republic of Azerbaijan under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, the principal architect of the Victory in Karabakh.

The successful conclusion of the Fifteenth Plenary Session of TURKPA and the Assembly’s planned areas of activity for 2027 were also discussed. Particular attention was devoted to initiatives to be undertaken by TURKPA, an important platform for strengthening unity among the Turkic States, through parliamentary diplomacy, as well as to further developing close cooperation among the brotherly States and implementing joint projects.

For his part, Mr. Devlet Bahçeli once again reaffirmed his support for brotherly Azerbaijan and the Turkic World as a whole. Underscoring the importance of the continued development of Azerbaijan–Türkiye relations, he stated that the continued development of both countries as independent, strong and powerful States was of great significance for the entire Turkic World and served as an example for other brotherly States.

Ambassador Ramil Hasan expressed his gratitude to Mr. Devlet Bahçeli for his contributions to strengthening unity across the Turkic World, his support for further reinforcing the brotherly ties between Azerbaijan and Türkiye, and his strong backing for the strategic policies pursued by the leaders of the two countries. The Secretary General reaffirmed that TURKPA would continue its efforts to promote independent and strong policies among the brotherly States, make effective use of the opportunities offered by parliamentary diplomacy, and further enhance cooperation in the legislative sphere.

The participants also exchanged views on other matters of mutual interest.

Deputy Secretary General of TURKPA Mr. Muhammet Alper Hayali also attended the meeting.
