TURKPA participated in IPU briefing on building younger and more diverse parliaments

The Acting Secretary of the TURKPA Commission on Education, Culture, Social and Humanitarian Affairs, Mr. Mirlan Usenkanov, participated on 12 August 2026 in the online briefing of the Empowerment Series for young parliamentarians, held on the occasion of International Youth Day 2026 under the theme “Building younger and more diverse parliaments.”

The briefing was organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and brought together more than 45 young parliamentarians, specialists and experts from different countries and international organizations to exchange views and experiences on strengthening youth participation and representation in political and parliamentary decision-making.

Participants discussed initiatives and good practices aimed at creating more inclusive and representative parliaments, as well as approaches to overcoming institutional and structural barriers to the meaningful participation of young people in public and political life.

The briefing provided a valuable platform for sharing experiences and strengthening international cooperation on promoting meaningful youth participation and enhancing the role of young people in democratic decision-making processes.
