On 5 June 2026, Deputy Secretary General of TURKPA Mr Talgat Aduov participated in the official opening ceremony of World Environment Day 2026 under the slogan “Inspired by Nature. For the Climate. For Our Future,” hosted by the Republic of Azerbaijan in Baku.

The event, organized by the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan in partnership with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), brought together representatives of governments, international organizations, the diplomatic community, the private sector, civil society, and volunteers.

At the opening ceremony, Mr Mukhtar Babayev, Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on climate issues, delivered a message from President Ilham Aliyev to the participants. The conference was also addressed by Mr Rashad Ismayilov, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and Ms Inger Andersen, Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).

The event focused on climate action, biodiversity conservation, the protection of the Caspian Sea ecosystem, and renewable energy development, and featured discussions on key issues of the global environmental agenda, highlighting Azerbaijan’s contribution to international environmental cooperation and sustainable development.
