On 2 July 2026, Acting Deputy Secretary General of TURKPA Mr. Bektur Bazakechov participated in the opening ceremony of the exhibition “Baku. 1926: Language, Thought, Unity”, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the First Turkological Congress, held in Baku.

The exhibition, jointly organized by the National Museum of History of Azerbaijan and the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, aims to highlight the historical significance of the First Turkological Congress, the shared scientific and cultural heritage of the Turkic peoples, and the development of Turkology as an academic discipline.

The exhibition explores key milestones in the history of the Turkic world, including the First Turkological Congress of 1926, language and alphabet reforms, and the preservation and promotion of the common cultural heritage of the Turkic peoples, while also reflecting the renewed integration of the Turkic world during the period of independence. It features rare archival documents, official Congress records, historical photographs, and other valuable materials preserved in the archival collections of the National Museum of History of Azerbaijan, the National Archives of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and the personal archive of Professor Adalat Tahirzadeh.
