Statement by Secretary General of TURKPA on the Occasion of the July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day

On the occasion of July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the brotherly Republic of Türkiye and the esteemed Turkish nation.

On July 15, 2016, the Turkish nation demonstrated to the entire world its unwavering commitment to democracy by standing firmly in defense of its democratic will, the State, and the constitutional order. This date has become one of the most significant symbols of the Republic of Türkiye's strong democratic tradition, the spirit of national unity, and the sovereign will of its people.

The stability and strength of the Republic of Türkiye are of great importance not only for the country itself but also for the Turkic World, united by shared history and common values. As the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (TURKPA), we underscore that Türkiye's valuable contributions to cooperation and solidarity among the Turkic States further advance our common objectives, and we express our sincere hope that our unity and cohesion will continue to grow stronger for the benefit of our shared future.

On this meaningful occasion, I respectfully commemorate with mercy those who lost their lives in defense of democracy and express my profound gratitude to the heroic veterans. I once again extend my sincere congratulations to the brotherly Turkish nation on July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day.
