Speaker of the Milli Majlis H.E. Sahiba Gafarova met with the Secretary General of TURKPA

On 15 September 2026, Speaker of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan H.E. Sahiba Gafarova received Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (TURKPA) Ambassador Ramil Hasan.

During the meeting, views were exchanged on the role of TURKPA in further developing cooperation among the Turkic states, the importance of the organization in discussing issues of interest to the Turkic-speaking countries, and the significance of the support provided to the organization by the leaders of its member states.

Speaker of the Milli Majlis H.E. Sahiba Gafarova shared her views on the work carried out under the auspices of the organization during Azerbaijan’s chairmanship of TURKPA, as well as on the expansion of its relations with international parliamentary organizations, including the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement.

During the conversation, it was noted that the Milli Majlis attaches great importance to developing cooperation both with TURKPA and with the parliaments of the fraternal countries that are members of the organization.

At the meeting, preparations for the plenary session of the Organization, to be held next month in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, the issues to be discussed at the event, and future plans were reviewed.
