Head of Parliament of TRNC received TURKPA delegation

On 14 November 2024, Chairman of the Assembly of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Ziya Öztürkler received the TURKPA delegation led by Secretary General Mehmet Süreyya Er who was on visit to take part in the celebrations for the 41st anniversary of establishment of the TRNC. Expressing his pleasure to visit the country during the 41st anniversary of establishment of the TRNC, Secretary General Mehmet Süreyya Er extended sincere congratulations to the Turkish Cypriot people on this occasion. Secretary General congratulated Ziya Öztürkler on his election as the Chairman of the Assembly of the TRNC. Noting that the participation of the TRNC in the TURKPA activities gave support and strength to the cooperation, Secretary General expressed satisfaction of the contribution of the TRNC to the Turkic cooperation in line with the motto of “unity in language, ideas and action”. He informed the Head of Parliament on the activities being carried out within the framework of TURKPA. Head of Parliament Ziya Öztürkler noted that the Turkish Cypriots had experienced one of the most meaningful days of their struggle 41 years ago and that the TRNC had been proclaimed in the historic building of parliament where the meeting took place. Stating that the parliament of the TRNC had joined the TURKPA as an observer in 2023, Ziya Öztürkler underlined the importance of representation of the TRNC in international organizations such as TURKPA and Organization of Turkic States. Head of Parliament expressed his gratitude to the TURKPA delegation for taking part in the celebrations. During the visit to the TRNC, Secretary General Mehmet Süreyya Er was accompanied by the staff members of the TURKPA Secretariat Azar Mammadov and Alasgar Aghayev. Member of the Assembly of the TRNC Hasan Küçük, Secretary General of the Assembly of the TRNC Seral Fırat and Director of Press, Foreign Relations and Protocol of the Assembly of the TRNC Milhan Lakadamyalı also took part in the meeting.
