TURKPA delegation participates in the Third International Maqom Art Forum in Uzbekistan

Upon the invitation of the Ministry of Culture of Uzbekistan, TURKPA delegation, headed by Acting Deputy Secretary General Mr. Bektur Bazakechev and including Secretary of Commission Ms. Aynura Abutalibova, is participating in the Third International Maqom Art Forum, held in Namangan, Republic of Uzbekistan, from 23 to 26 June 2026 under the auspices of UNESCO and ICESCO.

On 23rd June, the opening ceremony was addressed by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, H.E. Mr. Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who warmly welcomed distinguished representatives from around the world. In his remarks, the President emphasized that art serves as a spiritual bridge connecting people’s hearts and fostering mutual understanding and goodwill. He noted that the International Maqom Art Forum has become a globally recognized platform for preserving and promoting the universal values of the maqom musical tradition and strengthening intercultural dialogue.

President Mirziyoyev also highlighted the high level international participation in the Forum, which brought together representatives of leading international organizations, including UNESCO, ICESCO, the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), the Council of Elders of the OTS, the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (TURKPA), International Organisation of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY), the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, as well as ministers and deputy ministers of culture, ambassadors, and approximately 250 distinguished representatives of culture and the arts from more than 80 countries.
