TURKPA observers met with the Head of the MFA Representation in Almaty

On 21 August 2026, the Almaty Group of the TURKPA International Election Observation Mission held meeting with Mr. Zhanibek Abdrashov, Ambassador at Large - Head of the Representation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Almaty, as part of its short-term observation of the parliamentary elections in Kazakhstan scheduled for 23 August 2026.

Mr. Zhanibek Abdrashov welcomed the Mission members and expressed his satisfaction with the TURKPA Mission’s participation in the observation of the parliamentary elections to be held in Kazakhstan. He also underscored the importance of cooperation within the framework of TURKPA and provided information on Kazakhstan’s transition to a new unicameral parliamentary system, the new electoral system, and preparations for the parliamentary elections.

In turn, the Mission members expressed their satisfaction with participating in the international observation of the parliamentary elections in Kazakhstan, underscoring the historic significance of the elections in the democratic development of Kazakhstan. They wished that the elections would yield successful outcomes for the people of Kazakhstan and the Turkic world as a whole.

The Almaty Group of the TURKPA IEOM includes Mr. Hikmat Mammadov, member of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ulukbek Karybek Uulu, member of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic, Ms. Filiz Kılıç, member of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, Mr. Bektur Bazakechov, Acting Deputy Secretary General of TURKPA, Mr. Kadir Yaman, Secretary of Commission of TURKPA, Mr. Azar Mammadov, Legal Officer of the TURKPA International Secretariat and Mr. Yunus Emre Ünal, Secretary of Delegation, staff member of the Department of Foreign Relations and Protocol of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye.
