TURKPA First Meeting of the Experts group for the development of a draft model law "On the Protection of Children from Information that Harms their Health and Development"

On February 12 2026, Experts group for elaboration of the draft Model Law “On the Protection of Children from Information that Harms their Health and Development” held its first meeting in an online format. The Model Law will be developed within the framework of the Commission on Education, Culture, Social and Humanitarian Affairs in accordance with the TURKPA Strategic Roadmap for 2023-2028. The meeting was opened by Deputy Secretary General Saky Sadykov and moderated by Secretary of the Commission Aigerim Taalaibekova. Experts from TURKPA Member States proposed legislative measures and identified key risks affecting children, highlighting priority issues in their protection from harmful information. Particular emphasis was placed on the development of precise and comprehensive terminology clearly defining what constitutes harmful content, in order to ensure the highest possible level of protection for children. As a result of the meeting, the parties agreed to convene the next meeting on 3 March 2026.
