Ganja – beautiful city with rich history

“Ganja is one of important cities of the Turkic world”, said TurkPA Secretary General Jandos Asanov at his meeting with Mr Elnur Rzayev, First Deputy Head of Ganja City Administration. J. Asanov extended congratulations in connection with the 25th anniversary of the restoration of the independence of Azerbaijan.

Ganja was the capital of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, which, although short-lived, left a lasting legacy as the first republic in the Turkic and Muslim world. Currently, it is the second largest city of Azerbaijan and one the industrial centres of the country.

Mr Elnur Rzayev briefed of the current development of the city and ongoing social and economic projects. Members of the Milli Mejlis (Parliament) of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ms Pervin Kerimzade and Mr Nagif Hamzayev also took part at the meeting.

On 1-2 July the working trip of the TurkPA Secretary General to Ganja and its surroundings continued.
