Representative of Azerbaijan at the OTS Council of Elders visited TURKPA Secretariat

On 20 November 2023, statesman, representative of Azerbaijan at the Council of Elders (Aksakals) of the Organization of Turkic States Hasan Hasanov paid a courtesy visit to Secretary General Mehmet Süreyya Er.

The parties exchanged views on the development of Turkic cooperation and expressed hope for its further strengthening.

During the meeting, Mr. Hasanov presented to Mr. Er his book “Heydər Əliyev: Parlaq, xarizmatik şəxsiyyət haqqında xatirələr“ (Heydar Aliyev: Memories of a bright, charismatic personality) dedicated to the 100th anniversary of National Leader of Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev, which was translated from Azerbaijani to Turkish by the Turkic Academy.

Hasan Hasanov is a well-known politician, statesman, diplomat, scholar, doctor of historical sciences.

He was a Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Azerbaijan SSR, the first permanent representative and first ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the UN and the first Prime Minister of Azerbaijan.

In 1990-1992 he was the Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan. In 1992-1993 he worked as Permanent Representative, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the UN (New York). In 1993-1998 he worked as Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan. He served also as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Azerbaijan to Hungary and Poland. Mr. Hasanov was a member of parliaments of Soviet Union and Azerbaijan for 23 years.

Hasan Hasanov is also engaged in scholarly and artistic creativity. He is the author of monograph on the “Creation of a state called Azerbaijan” and the play “Letters from Brussels”, dedicated to the life and work of the brilliant thinker Mirza Fatali Akhundov, as well as a number of monographs, collections of works, numerous speeches and articles. He defended two doctoral dissertations on the topics “Philosophy of the history of the political genesis of human society” in Baku, and “National statehood views and activities of Nariman Narimanov” in Tbilisi, respectively.
