On 17 October 2023, Acting Deputy Secretary General Saky Sadykov took part in the events held on the occasion of Fuzuli City Day. The Fuzuli City Day event was co-organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Office of the Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the liberated territories of the Karabakh Economic Region (except Shusha region).
State officials, parliamentarians, representatives of diplomatic corps and other guests took part in the events.
The program included a gala-concert, exhibitions “This is my motherland!” dedicated to the prominent poet Mahammad Fuzuli, “National Leader Heydar Aliyev and Fuzuli”, “Fuzuli region – before and after occupation”, as well as Azerbaijani carpets’ exhibition and an exhibition of the archeological samples found in the Yedditapa kurgans in Fuzuli. As part of the program, musical composition “100 tars” was performed.
The participants also became acquainted with the construction and restoration work carried out in the city after liberation from occupation.
Fuzuli city was liberated in 2020 during the second Karabakh War. According to the Decree of President Ilham Aliyev, October 17 will be celebrated annually as Fuzuli City Day.
