On 12 October 2023, within the framework of his official visit to Azerbaijan, President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Ersin Tatar took part in the opening gala dinner on the occasion of the “TRNC Culture and Promotion Days” event held in Baku.

The gala dinner was attended by First Lady Sibel Tatar, Prime Minister of the TRNC Ünal Üstel, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment of the TRNC Fikri Ataoğlu, Chairman of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora of the Republic of Azerbaijan Fuad Muradov, Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Türkiye Serdar Çam, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to the Republic of Azerbaijan Cahit Bağcı, Representative of the TRNC in Baku Ufuk Turganer, President of the International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation Gunay Afandiyeva, parliamentarians, representatives of academic and business circles. TURKPA Secretary General Mehmet Süreyya Er also took part in the gala dinner.

Speaking at the event, President Ersin Tatar noted the Turkish Cypriots as an integral part of the Turkic world. He expressed gratitude to President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev for the will to develop relations between the countries.

The program also included screening of a film about the TRNC.

President of the TRNC Ersin Tatar made a visit to Azerbaijan to take part in the “TRNC Culture and Promotion Days” event and to hold a series of meetings. It is the first official visit of President of the TRNC Ersin Tatar to Azerbaijan.

TRNC takes part in the activities of the Organization of Turkic States and TURKPA in the capacity of observer.
