On 5-6 October 2023, Secretary General Mehmet Süreyya Er took part in the event "Days of Shusha" co-organized by the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation and the Shusha City State Reserve with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the city of Turkistan, Kazakhstan.
The event was attended by the members of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan Nizami Jafarov and Fatma Yildirim, Special Representative of the President of Azerbaijan in Shusha Aidyn Kerimov, Deputy Governor of the Turkistan Region Beisenbay Tajibayev, the Executive Director of the Shusha City State Reserve Tural Novruzov, as well as other guests. Deputy Governor of the Turkistan Region Beisenbay Tajibayev, the President of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation Gunay Afandiyeva, the Special Representative of the President of Azerbaijan in Shusha Aidyn Kerimov made speeches during the event.
The festive program began with an exhibition where the works of outstanding artists of Shusha were presented. The event continued with the presentation of "Karabakh" Azerbaijani national women clothes collection designed by Gulnara Khalilova. The program also included demonstration of a film about the life and creativity of the Azerbaijani poetess Khurshidbanu Natavan, performances by the Azerbaijani mugham group, and musical ensemble "Seven Beauties" created under the auspices of the Foundation.
As part of the program, guest delegations met with the Governor of the Turkistan region Darkhan Satybaldy and the Mayor of the city of Turkistan Nurbol Turashbekov. The parties expressed satisfaction with the organization of the "Days of Shusha" as important event for the entire Turkic world in Turkistan - the sister city of Shusha.
Visit of the delegations to Khoja Ahmet Yassawi International Kazakh-Turkish University was also organized within the frame of the program. A Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation and the University. On the same day, Mayor's Office of the city of Turkistan organized a cultural program for the guests that included the visits to the Khoja Akhmet Yassawi mausoleum, "Etno Auyl" village and the exhibition center "Uly Dala Eli" (People of the Great Steppe), the park named after the First President as well as the flying theater.
