Acting Deputy Secretary General Saky Sadykov took part in plenary session of the Second Azerbaijan National Urban Forum in Baku organized by the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture of the Republic of Azerbaijan in collaboration with the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat). The Forum was held in Zangilan and Baku as part of the Azerbaijan Urban Week from 29 September to 2 October 2023. The theme of the event was "Resilient cities as a driving force of economic development and fighting inequalities".
During the Forum delegates from various regions of the world discussed ways to solve infrastructural and environmental problems in the growing cities.
At the opening of the Forum in Zangilan, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev made a speech and emphasized that urbanization is today’s important issue, and first of all, the main goal of the state is to create comfortable and excellent conditions for people’s lives.
During the plenary session of the Forum that was held in Baku, participants were introduced the Master plans of Baku city and the liberated regions. The projects of restoration of damaged infrastructure and modern towns built in Karabakh were also demonstrated.
