Global Baku Forum started its work

The 6th Global Baku Forum titled “Bridging Gaps to Create Inclusive Societies” began its work on 15 March 2018 in the capital of Azerbaijan. The Forum is supported by the State Committee on Diaspora of Azerbaijan and Nizami Ganjavi International Centre and attended by the representatives of nearly 50 countries, including current and former heads of state or government, famous politicians, heads of international organisations and other well-known public figures.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Vice-President of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva took part in the opening ceremony, in which the leader of Azerbaijan addressed the Forum. The opening ceremony was also addressed by Albanian President Ilir Meta, Macedonian President Gjorge Ivanov, Moldavian President Igor Dodon, Member of Bosnia and Herzegovina Presidency Mladen Ivanic, Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister Ahmet Yildiz, Deputy Prime Minister of Palestine Ziad Abu Amr, Deputy Head of the Government of Bosnia and Herzegovina Mirko Sarovic and Vice Prime Minister of Romania Ana Birchall.

On the Forum’s sidelines, Secretary General Altynbek Mamaiusupov met with President of the Turkic Academy Darkhan Kydyrali. The parties exchanged their views on prospects of cooperation between two institutions, also in the framework of the Memorandum of Cooperation signed between TURKPA and Turkic Academy in 2014.
