On the sidelines of the Eighth Plenary Session of TURKPA being held in Izmir, on 20-21 November 2018, heads of delagations held bilateral meetings.
Following the Eighth Meeting of Council of Assembly held on 20 November 2018, Mr. Binali Yıldırım, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, TURKPA Chairman-in-Office, met with Mr. Laszlo Köver, Speaker of the Hungarian National Assembly.
Hungarian National Assembly was granted an observer status in TURKPA in 2014.
On the same day, Mr. Binali Yıldırım and Mr. Dastanbek Dzhumabekov, Toraga of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic, held bilateral and expanded meetings.
The parties exchanged views on strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation and held discussions on the ways of expanding economic, cultural and humanitarian relations between the countries.
At the end of the meeting, Mr. Dzhumabekov invited Mr. Yıldırım to pay an official visit to the Kyrgyz Republic.
At the same time, on 21 November, Mr. Dastanbek Dzhumabekov held meeting with Mr. Laszlo Köver. The parties discussed bilateral and inter-parliamentary cooperation between the countries and exchanged views on cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
Expressing his gratitude to Hungarian Parliament for active participation in the Autumn Session of OSCE PA held in Bishkek on 3-6 October 2018, Mr. Dzhumabekov stressed on the need for development of economic and trade relations between the countries. Also Mr. Dzhumabekov invited Mr. Köver to pay an official visit to the Kyrgyz Republic.
In his turn, Mr. Köver expressed his gratitude for invitation and pleasure for development of relations between the countries. Mr. Köver mentioned the significant role of inter-parliamentary friendship groups on strengthening inter-parliamentary relations and bilateral cooperation.
Moreover, the parties held discussions on cooperation in the fight against terrorism and extremism.
