Secretary General attended the 36th meeting of TURKSOY Permanent Council and Closing ceremony of "Kastamonu - Cultural Capital of Turkic World 2018" held on 18 December 2018 in Kastamonu. The meeting gathered a wide audience such as ministers, parliamentarians, representatives of international organisations along with the guests from various regions of the Turkic world.

Following the opening speeches, the Permanent Council discussed the items of the agenda and took a number of crucial decisions. The city of Osh (Kyrgyzstan) was named as 2019 cultural capital of the Turkic world. Besides, 2019 was proclaimed as the year of the great Azerbaijani poet and thinker Imadaddin Nasimi in honour of his 650th anniversary and famous Turkish folk minstrel and poet Aşık Veysel in honour of his 125th anniversary.

The meeting was followed by the closing ceremony of "Kastamonu - Cultural Capital of Turkic World 2018".
