On 26 August 2023, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva took part at the “Lachin City Day” festivities, supported by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and organized by the Ministry of Culture and Special Representative Office of the President of Azerbaijan in the Lachin district.

The event was attended by diplomats, military attachés and representatives of international organizations accredited in Azerbaijan. The TURKPA also took part in the event.

In his address, Head of State Ilham Aliyev expressed his pleasure to welcome diplomats representing foreign countries and guests who had come from different parts of Azerbaijan in Lachin after the reconstruction work carried out last year following the liberation of the city of Lachin.

The program featured a variety of cultural activities and ended with a gala concert performed by Azerbaijani state artists.

City Days in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan were established by relevant presidential decree. As City Days are the dates of liberation of the cities, the “Lachin City Day” is celebrated on 26 August – the day of liberation of the city of Lachin. In 2023, it was the first time the City Day was held in Lachin.
