On 11 April 2019, Secretary General Mr. Altynbek Mamaiusupov met with UN Resident Coordinator Mr. Ghulam Isaczai.
During the meeting, Secretary General informed Mr. Isaczai on TURKPA`s main directions of activities and emphasized that as a parliamentary dimension of Turkic cooperation, the organization seeks to shape a legislative space for national parliaments, such as approximation of national legislations, experience exchange, sharing practices and accumulation of expert potential of member countries.
Mr. Altynbek Mamaiusupov noted that the TURKPA intends to develop cooperation with UN and its institutions and move towards achieving UN Sustainable Development Goals 2030.
In his turn Mr. Isaczai also underlined the importance of UN and its Sustainable Development Goals adopted by 193 member countries noting that it was single largest commitment in the UN history.
At the same time, he talked about the works that were done in partnership with the Government of Azerbaijan and underlined the important role of parliaments as regards the cooperation of UN with countries on the ground.
In general, both sides expressed interest and exchanged views on aspects of future cooperation opportunities within the mutual various projects.
