Chairman of the TURKPA Commission Mr. Sadyk Sher-Niyaz and Secretary General Mr. Altynbek Mamaiusupov attended the 5th World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue being held in Baku on 2-3 May 2019. Forum held under the motto “Building dialogue into action against discrimination, inequality and violent conflict” was organized by the Azerbaijani government in partnership with UNESCO, the UN Alliance of Civilizations, the UN World Tourism Organization (WTO), the Council of Europe, and the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) and brought together high-ranking officials from more than 100 countries and 30 international organizations.
President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attended the opening ceremony and made a speech. Following the opening ceremony, forum continued its work with breakout sessions. Moreover, the High Level Panel of the Heads of International Organizations and the Ministerial Panel also were held in the framework of the Forum.
Mr. Sadyk Sher-Niyaz, Chairman of the TURKPA Commission on Social, Cultural and Humanitarian Affairs and member of Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic delivered a speech during the High Level Ministerial Panel that was chaired by Mr. Abulfas Garayev, Minister of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan and held with participation of ministers, government officials of the countries and high-level officials of the international organizations participating in the Forum. In his speech, highly appreciating the forum as a platform for advancing a global dialogue between the political, economic, scientific and cultural elites of the world community, Mr. Sher-Niyaz noted that people with different religious and ethnic backgrounds live together in peace and harmony in Turkic-speaking countries, while the countries attach primary importance to the promotion of intercultural and interreligious dialogue at all levels.
Various exhibitions and music programs are being organized for the guests. Also the event is being broadcast on the official website of the UN.
