On 10 October 2019, TURKPA delegation headed by Secretary General Mr. Altynbek Mamaiusupov attended the international conference titled “Nakhchivan Agreement – 10th Anniversary” hosted by Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The opening ceremony of the conference that brought together parliamentarians, representatives of Turkic cooperation institutions and academic circles, was addressed by Mr. Ziyafat Asgarov, First Deputy Speaker of Milli Majlis and Mr. Altynbek Mamaiusupov.
Mr. Asgarov noted that relations between Turkic-speaking countries had expanded over the past ten years. He underlined that Azerbaijan had always attached great importance to the development of cooperation among the Turkic-speaking countries.
Secretary General extended congratulations on the 10th anniversary of the Nakhchivan agreement and noted its signing as a new stage of cooperation based on institutional mechanisms. Stressing the importance of establishment of TURKPA in 2008 as another milestone of the institutionalization of Turkic cooperation, Mr. Mamaiusupov informed on its role in Turkic integration, as well as on current and future activities of the Assembly. Secretary General noted that harmonization and approximation of national legislation of the member countries is one of the prevailing missions of TURKPA and added that the work is underway in this direction. He also emphasized the active participation of Azerbaijani parliamentarians in the work of the Assembly.
