On 27-28 February 2020, the workshop titled “Rapprochement of legislation in the field of cinema and animation (for children and adolescents) and Legal Framework” and hosted by the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (GNAT) was held in Ankara. The workshop was organized in the framework of the TURKPA Commission on Social, Cultural and Humanitarian Affairs and dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the GNAT.
Parliamentarians, experts, representatives of ministries of culture, film and animation studios from the member countries, as well as representative of TURKSOY participated in the workshop. Moreover, delegation of Uzbekistan, for the first time, took part in the work of the TURKPA Commission.
Deputy Speaker of the GNAT Mr. Süreyya Sadi Bilgiç welcomed the participants and made an opening speech. Following the opening session, the workshop continued with two sessions moderated accordingly by Mr. Sadyk Sher-Niyaz, Chairman of the TURKPA Commission on Social, Cultural and Humanitarian Affairs and Mr. İsmet Uçma, Chairman of the TURKPA Commission on Legal Affairs and International Relations. In the course of the workshop, experts made presentations and gave information on current situation and legal framework in the field of cinema and animation in the member countries. Participants exchanged views on the matter and discussed draft model laws on “Attracting Foreign Investments in Cinematography and Production of Audiovisual Works” and “Cinematography”.
