Secretary General attended video conference dedicated to 1300th anniversary of Bilge Tonyukuk Monument

On 24 April 2020, Secretary General Altynbek Mamaiusupov delivered a speech during the international online conference dedicated to the 1300th anniversary of the Bilge Tonyukuk Monument and held under the auspices of UNESCO and official opening of the “Tonyukuk Year” organized by the International Turkic Academy.

The theme of the conference was “Civilization of the Great Steppe: Tonyukuk’s legacy and the modern Turkic world”. Representatives of the international organizations and academic communities attended the video conference.

In his speech, Secretary General emphasized that the recent Extraordinary Video Summit of the Heads of State of the Turkic Council demonstrated the solidarity and cohesion among our peoples. Mr. Mamaiusupov noted the great contributions to the world culture and science made by the Great Steppe civilization and stressed that celebration of the anniversaries of historic events and eminent personalities of the Turkic World by UNESCO is an evidence of this contribution. He assessed Bilge Tonyukuk Monument as a valuable source to study the history, written culture and literary techniques of Turkic nations. Highly appreciating the activities of the Turkic Academy in coordinating the scientific researches of the scholars from different regions in this direction, Mr. Mamaiusupov called on all turkologists to continue a comprehensive study of the heritage of the Turkic world.
