On 17 September 2020, the Meeting of the Heads of Committees on Health Issues of the member parliaments was organized by TURKPA with support of Grand National Assembly of Turkey on “COVID-19 pandemic: its impact and future outlook” in a video conference format.

Heads and members of the Committees on Health Issues of the parliaments of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey and Uzbekistan, as well as representatives of the TURKPA Secretariat participated in the event. The meeting was moderated by Mr. Recep Akdağ, Chairman of the Commission on Health, Family, Labour and Social Affairs of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey.

The opening ceremony was addressed by the Heads of relevant Committees, as well as TURKPA Secretary General Mr. Altynbek Mamaiusupov and Deputy Minister of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic Mr. Nurbolot Usenbayev. Following the opening ceremony, members of the Committees made speeches on the main topic.

During the meeting, participants discussed the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on health systems and health workers, as well as informed on the early response measures taken in their respective countries. In this context, they also exchanged views on priority areas, methods and mechanisms of future cooperation in the relevant sphere.
